Here are a few of the most common ones:<br><br>1ï¸â£<strong> Incorrect Classification of Financial Instruments</strong><br>Preference shares often misclassified as equity when they actually meet liability criteria under Ind AS 32.<br><br>2ï¸â£ <strong>Lease Accounting Errors (Ind AS 116)</strong><br>Ignoring embedded leases in service contracts.<br>Not discounting lease liabilities using the appropriate incremental borrowing rate.<br><br>3ï¸â£ <strong>Revenue Recognition (Ind AS 115)</strong><br>Recognising revenue at invoice stage instead of transfer of control.<br>Poor allocation of transaction price across performance obligations.<br><br>4ï¸â£<strong> Impairment of Financial Assets (Ind AS 109)</strong><br>Applying incurred loss model instead of expected credit loss (ECL) model.<br>Not considering forward-looking information.<br><br>5ï¸â£ <strong>Deferred Taxes (Ind AS 12)</strong><br>Netting off DTA/DTL without checking offsetting criteria.<br>Ignoring temporary differences arising on leases, fair value adjustments, and consolidation.<br><br>6ï¸â£ <strong>Consolidation Issues (Ind AS 110)</strong><br>Excluding structured entities/subsidiaries due to lack of legal ownership, despite control indicators being present.<br><br>7ï¸â£ <strong>Fair Value Measurement (Ind AS 113)</strong><br>Using book value instead of market/discounted cash flow models for Level 2/3 instruments.<br><br>â <strong>Key Takeaway</strong>: Small misclassifications can significantly affect reported profits, net worth, and investor perception.
