CA STUDY NOTES

Dear Students,

As the exam period approaches, I know you are deeply immersed in your preparation. To help you navigate this crucial time, I’d like to share some strategies that may enhance your study effectiveness and boost your chances of success.

Firstly, it’s important to acknowledge that the CA exam is not inherently difficult; often, it’s our approach that complicates things. The passing criteria require only 50% marks, and the ICAI provides a clear syllabus. The key is to focus on the official study materials and scanner questions, which are more likely to be repeated in the exams. Avoid getting sidetracked by additional materials that can dilute your preparation.

  1. Start Your Day Fresh:
Use your morning time, when your mind is most alert, to study a theory paper for at least two hours. Follow this with a practical paper of your choice.
  2. Post-Lunch Routine:
After a short nap of about an hour post-lunch, dedicate another two hours to studying a different theory paper. Continue with another practical paper afterwards.
  3. Maintain a Balanced Schedule:
Aim for a study routine of around 10 hours per day. Studying excessively may lower your productivity. Ensure you get sufficient sleep to maintain high efficiency.
  4. Plan Realistically:
Complete all coaching sessions at least two months before the exams. Use the last two months exclusively for revision. Prioritize self-study with well-organized notes over additional coaching classes.
  5. Prioritize Theory Papers:
Don’t let practical papers overshadow theory papers. Theory papers tend to be more predictable and less prone to unexpected questions.
  6. Focus on Relevant Material:
Stick to study materials that reflect past questions and exam patterns. Avoid spending too much time on questions that are less likely to appear. Theory papers generally offer choices, so even if you miss a question, you can still score well by focusing on others.
  1. Efficient Question Review:
In practical subjects like AFM and Financial Reporting, focus on the core questions from your notes that align with the study material and scanner. For instance, if there are 80 questions on a topic, concentrate on 35 key questions and revise them multiple times. This targeted approach is more effective than reviewing all 80 questions.
  2. Highlight Key Adjustments:
While practicing, mark important adjustments and key points. During revision, focus on these highlighted areas instead of redoing entire questions, as this will streamline your study process.

Effective planning and strategic study habits are crucial for your success. I wish you all the best in your preparations and exams.

Best regards,
